Working on an Enterprise Content Management project using SharePoint 2010? Then you need to take a look at the new SharePoint Enterprise Content Management Implementers’ Course recently published on TechNet at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/sharepoint/hh126808. This kit was created to provide a “beyond the basic” look and understanding of how to implement key pieces of a ECM system using SharePoint 2010. This kit goes beyond a simple explanation of ECM and discussed key areas such as architecture, taxonomy, search, metadata management and document management.
The implementer’s kit includes content, labs and videos and can be viewed by an individual or as instructor-led training. The kit includes the following modules:
- Introduction to ECM
- Infrastructure and Storage
- Information Architecture
- Content Types
- Metadata and Taxonomy
- Social Content
- Implement and Manage Search
- Search User Interface
- Navigation and Views
- Security and Auditing
- Records Management
- Identifying and Creating Records
- Retention and Holds
- Ingestion and Routing
- Rich Media Libraries
Make sure you congratulate all the content authors – Rob Bogue, Ben Rob, Steve Curran, Eric Shupps and yes even myself. This was a divide and conquer project with Rob responsible for the management and coordination of the project which at times became a little hectic.
Darrin, what I could never find with the implementers course were the “supporting files”. For example, a VM to install for the lab modules, the video files to upload for Module 15, Lab B, etc. I have all the labs, but not the platform on which to go through them. Are those to be found – or were those to be part of a classroom environment separate from the video series? Thanks, Dave Deschere
